Ugly sweater party ideas with frozen drinks

The best ugly sweater party ideas start with a date, a sweater contest, and a drink station guests remember. Pick a December evening, ask everyone to wear their tackiest sweater, and pour a frozen Mocha Cappuccino in one bowl and an alcohol-free snowball slushie in the other.
This post is the quick version for this year's calendar. For the full theme, with bowl pairings, rims, food, and printables, see our ugly sweater party theme guide.
Pick your date now
December weekends fill early, and our machines are booked out Nov 21 to Dec 3, 2026. That leaves two good windows:
- Early December, Dec 4 or later. Friday and Saturday nights are the most popular party slots.
- National Ugly Christmas Sweater Day, Friday, Dec 18, 2026. It falls on the third Friday of December, so it's an easy hook for an office party, a neighborhood get-together, or a family night.
If you want an earlier party, Nov 3 to 20 also works. Online booking needs at least 2 days' notice, but don't wait that long for a December Saturday.
Two bowls: one cozy, one for the kids
A two-bowl machine pours two flavors at once, so you can serve grownups and kids from one machine. Every mix is alcohol-free until you add alcohol.
- Grownup bowl: Mocha Cappuccino tastes like a frozen holiday coffee. Strawberry Margarita adds the red.
- Kids bowl: Vanilla with a Peppermint Cocktail Sugar rim makes a "snowball" slushie. Cherry or Green Sour Apple gives you red or green.
If grownups and kids share the party, label each bowl clearly. Our free bowl labels print in a minute. For a big family crowd, a second machine lets the kids have two flavors of their own. Our kids party slushie flavors guide has more kid favorites.
Ugly sweater party ideas for games
Keep the games short so people get back to the drinks and the snacks.
- The sweater contest. Give out awards for tackiest, most lights, best homemade, and best family match. Let guests vote with paper ballots.
- Sweater relay. Two teams race to pull on a giant sweater, run to a chair, and pass it to the next player. Kids love this one.
- White elephant swap. Set a simple gift rule and a three-steal limit.
- Holiday song trivia. Play the first few seconds of a song and let teams guess the title.
- Pin the nose on the reindeer. A good one for younger kids while the grownups chat.
Decorations that match the mood
The tackier, the better. Wrap tinsel around the drink table, hang mismatched string lights, and lay down a plaid tablecloth. Make a "runway" with a strip of red paper for the contest walk. Holiday lights can load a circuit, so plug the machine into its own outlet, not one shared with the decorations. Each machine needs a dedicated 110 volt, 15 amp outlet.
Invitations and timing
Put "Ugliest sweater wins" in the headline. Our free party invite maker builds one in a few minutes. Send invites 3 to 4 weeks out for a December party.
On party day, we deliver and set up the machine, show you how it works, and pick it up after. The first batch takes 2 to 3 hours to freeze, so plan for us to arrive well before guests do. One machine serves up to 100 guests.
