Margarita machine on a party table in a backyard garden

A backyard beach party theme brings the coast home with a frozen drink machine pouring Strawberry Daiquiri and Blue Hawaiian, beach towels, and sand in a kiddie pool. Fill one bowl with Blue Raspberry, alcohol-free, for the kids.

The look

Use ocean blue, sandy tan, coral, and sunny yellow.

  • Lay beach towels over the lawn as picnic seating.
  • Set up beach umbrellas and folding beach chairs.
  • Toss beach balls and pool noodles around the yard.
  • Fill a kiddie pool with play sand for a pretend shoreline.
  • Use buckets and shovels as utensil holders and snack bowls.
  • Add a "Beach this way" arrow sign by the gate.

The two bowls

Option Bowl 1 Bowl 2
Red and blue Strawberry Daiquiri Blue Hawaiian
Sunset Mango Margarita Strawberry Daiquiri
Beach bar Lime Margarita Piña Colada
Rosé on the sand Frosé Watermelon

Daiquiri and piña colada mixes make about 50 frozen drinks each. See batch recipes on our frozen drink recipes page.

Kids slushie bowl

Every mix is alcohol-free until you add alcohol. Fill one bowl with Blue Raspberry for the kids, or make both bowls slushies (Blue Raspberry and Strawberry) and add a second machine for the adults. Label each bowl so nobody grabs the wrong cup.

Rim and garnish

  • Lime Margarita Salt on a lime or mango margarita
  • Sweet Heat Cocktail Sugar on the Strawberry Daiquiri
  • Chocolate Cocktail Sugar on kids cups for a candy rim

Garnish with lime wheels, pineapple wedges, and gummy fish on a pick for the kids.

Food ideas

  • Fish tacos or shrimp tacos with cabbage slaw
  • A shrimp boil with corn and potatoes poured on a paper covered table
  • Hot dogs and burgers for the kids
  • Watermelon wedges and fruit cups
  • Sand pudding cups with crushed cookies and a gummy worm

Games and activities

  • Water balloon toss: partners step back after every catch.
  • Beach ball volleyball: string a rope between two trees as the net.
  • Sandcastle contest: build in the kiddie pool sandbox.
  • Sprinkler limbo: for hot afternoons.
  • Seashell hunt: hide plastic shells around the yard.

Printables

Make a beach themed invitation on our party invite page. Then print:

  • Bowl labels: "Beach bar (21 and up)" and "Kids slushie shack"
  • A volleyball score sheet
  • A seashell hunt checklist

Planning note

A beach party runs hot, so the frozen drinks go fast. One machine serves up to 100 guests, and one mix serves about 20. Set the machine on a sturdy table in the shade, near a standard 110 volt outlet on its own circuit, and keep it away from the water games. Need an ice chest for sodas and water? We rent 120 to 150 quart ice chests too. Hosting by a real pool? See our pool party margarita machine page.
