Rules to know before you book
Waco
- Pavilion rentals run 9 a.m. to midnight, and setup, decorating, and cleanup must fit inside your rental time, per the Waco facility rental agreement.
- Electricity is limited: only two electrical appliances per outlet box. Heavier use can trip the breaker.
- The renter must be 21 or older, and nothing can be staked into the ground.
- Book a pavilion by 1 p.m. the day before (Friday by 1 p.m. for weekends). You can book up to 12 months ahead.
- Alcohol: the Northern Gateway park page lists alcohol as prohibited in the park, and the rental agreement asks whether alcohol will be served. Ask the reservations office about your pavilion.
Temple
- Each rental covers a four-hour minimum, with extra hours available, per the Temple pavilion rental guidelines.
- Alcohol is allowed, but glass containers are prohibited, including in the parking lot.
- Most parks close at 9 p.m. Lions Park, Miller Park, West Temple Community Park, and a few others close at 11 p.m.
- Clean up and leave by your stated end time. Children can't be left unsupervised.
Belton
- Park pavilions rent for the whole day, 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Unreserved pavilions are first come, first served.
- The Harris Community Park splash pad pavilions rent in three-hour slots from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Belton's splash pad rules prohibit alcohol and glass, so plan a slushie party there.
Frozen drink machine tips for a park pavilion
- Confirm the outlet. The machine needs a standard 110 volt outlet on its own circuit. At a Waco pavilion, make the machine one of the two appliances on that outlet box, and keep coffee makers and speakers on another.
- No outlet? You need a generator of at least 3,500 watts per outlet. Ask the reservations office whether generators are allowed.
- Book enough time. We set up 2 to 3 hours before the party, and the first batch takes 2 to 3 hours to freeze. Reserve the pavilion from setup through pickup.
- Bring a hose and water. Ask where the nearest water spigot is. Bring a garden hose or enough drinking water to mix.
- Use a sturdy surface. We can't set up on rock or gravel. Use a sturdy table or add our rolling machine cart.
- Kids at the party? Every mix is alcohol-free until you add alcohol. Fill one bowl with Blue Raspberry or Cherry Limeade for the kids, and label each bowl.
